Star Tours final full ride

This is it. The highlight of my trip in the US so many years ago. I am unabashedly a huge Star Wars fan and to experience Star Tours was a dream come true.

Star Tours is one of the many (and to my opinion, the best) rides at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The best part is, I didn't know it was actually there and got the best surprise of all. We were just following the queue from one ride to another. But when I saw C3PO stationed by the entrance, I knew I was in for a real treat.

The line was rather long (a testament to its popularity) but along the way you get snippets of the Star Wars universe. Droids and ships line the path. And soon enough we were boarding the shuttle which would take us to Endor. However, it was the Droid pilot's first flight ever, prompting a rather disastrous detour in lightspeed, ending up in the first Death Star battle.

The seats have force feedback. reacting appropriately to the scenes depicted onscreen. The experience is quite realistic. Not that I have experienced space flight before, but I think this is the closest I will ever get. Lightspeed is quite exhilirating!

Star Tours closed last September 2010, to be replaced by a 3D version. Imagine, force-feedback seats coupled with 3-dimensional views. It's going to be so awesome. I wish, Force willing, that I will be able to go see it while I am still able to stand in lines.
